Clue for 117 hidden in 116

When Olivia goes to the frat house, you can see a decal on the keg that says ‘RED BALLOON LAGER’…

RED BALLOON LAGER

clue

This foreshadowed the big red balloon in Bad Dreams, that was part of Olivia’s vision of victim, Risa Pears, in Grand Central Station.

The yellow-red-blue-clear pattern

Last week I noticed that the color yellow seemed to be very dominant in the episode (”Inner Child”).

I figured it to be a reference to the possibility that the medicine Olivia was getting as a child was yellow…

Yellow

yellow

But then this week I noticed that the magic color seemed to be red…really, really, really red…

red

OK…so that’s a lot of red, right?  I thought so too.  But it wasn’t until I noticed the close-up of the toast in Walter’s lab, that I began to wonder if there isn’t a bigger pattern here than I originally thought.

yellow-red-blue-gray?

mixed

The four colors line themselves up again at the frat house, although they are not in the same order…

yellow-clear?-red-blue

pattern

If last week’s episode was dominated by yellow and this week’s episode was over-run by red, do you think next week will be littered with blue?  It seems like a possibility, but what does it mean?  Red, Yellow and Blue are the primary colors.  But what possible insight does that give us?  And that doesn’t account for the clear/gray.  Maybe it has something to do with the meaning of the colors…

yellow

YELLOW:  Like the energy of a bright sunny day, yellow brings clarity and awareness.  Clean light yellow clears the mind, making it active and alert.  It is full of creative and intellectual energy, and is the color associated with the Solar Plexus Chakra. This chakra deals with identity.

red

RED:  Red is the color most chosen by extroverts and one of the top picks of males. On the negative side red can mean temper or anger. It is associated with fiery heat and warmth. It can also mean danger (burning).  Red is the color of blood, and as such has strong symbolism as life and vitality. It brings focus to the essence of life and living with emphasis on survival.  Red is the color associated with the Root Chakra.  This chakra deals with the protection of individual integrity.

blue

BLUE:  Blue is the color of inspiration, sincerity and spirituality.  It gives a feeling of distance which  allows us to look beyond and increase our perspective outward.  The vibration of blue can be used to open energy flow where it is blocked.  Blue is the color associated with the Throat Chakra.  This chakra deals with creativity, self-expression and the search for truth.

gray

GRAY:  Gray is the true neutral color. Its energy imparts void, emptiness, lack of movement, emotion, warmth and identifying characteristics. Because of this, gray can be restful. It has a detached and isolated feeling.  Gray is also the color of sorrow. People who favor gray can be the lone wolf type or narrow-minded.

crystal

CRYSTAL:  (The closest I could find)  Crystal brings harmony to the life force.  Used for healing, meditation, chakra balancing, protection, and changing bad vibrations.  Crystal is used in expanding the mind to touch the spirit world, and enhance the beneficial life force.  Crystal and gemstone balls have been used for divination since at least medieval times. They are a traditional symbol of the occult and hidden wisdom, and much more.

colors

So, what does it all mean?

meaning

Yellow clears the mind, making it active and alert‘ could be in reference to the child and/or Olivia.  They both seem to have a more advanced mind than average.  Being able to shut lights off simply by thinking about it or knowing the thoughts of a serial killer would certainly fall under the category of ‘intellectual energy‘.

meaning

Redcan also mean danger’seems pretty self explanatory to me…murder, death, kill!!  But perhaps it is more of a reference to Walter’s struggle to correct the mistakes he made 20 years ago.  Mistakes that are costing people their lives… ‘the protection of individual integrity‘.

meaning

Where does that leave us for Blue… ‘spirituality‘?  And is the final color meant to be Gray or Crystal?  It is just another in a long line of mysteries that keeps me glued to the set every Tuesday.  I wait anxiously to see if next weeks episode confirms my color pattern theory.

Frat house posters - 116

Just as a point of interest, here are the posters that were hanging on the wall of the frat house.  They are all real bands.  The one in the bottom right, outlined in yellow, I couldn’t make out.  If anyone knows what it is let me know.  Just click on the thumbnail to view full image…

Burlap Bear - Ella’s book

This may be an Easter Egg, the Next Episode Clue, or maybe nothing at all.  You be the judge…

easter egg

book

The name of this book is “Burlap Bear Goes to the Woods” by Tomas Christensen.

burlap bear

I did a lot of Googling and could not find a book by this title, or anything even close.  That means it’s fake, so it must have some sort of meaning or inference.burlap bear

burlap bear

It’s possible the reference here has nothing to do with the front of the book, but the inner pages instead…

Note: the red

look familiar…well it did to me…it reminds me of the claws of the hybrid creature…

The Creature

monster

…perhaps the monster is not up ahead, after all…but right here with us.

The Peek-A-Boo Ear - 116

When they first show Walter’s omelet, it looks completely normal.  No signs of any body parts…

Looks yummy!

.

Peter reaches for a knife and fork…

Peek-A-Boo!

.

You can clearly see the ear (or something) hanging out of the side of the omelet.  But then when Walter opens the omelet to show Peter the ear…

Gross!

.

The ear is firmly placed in the center of the omelet…nothing peeking out.

Lab Notes - Photo puzzle - 116

O.K. - So I played with this for hours, and I can not get the third piece (Unleashed)to fit with the other two (Ability and Inner Child)…

regular size

puzzle

I thought, because of the difference in the grain size, that maybe making the piece larger would work, but I still had no luck…

double size

puzzle

Is it possible that this piece is a start of a new puzzle?  If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

"Unleashed" lab notes

Project 709 - Exploration 16

The Images:

Pages from Walter’s old note book, a beaker containing Trichloromide and another strange grainy photo, similar to the ones seen in the lab notes for Ability and Inner Child.

fringe

The Note:

Nietzsche - is a reference to Frederick Wilhelm Nietzsche a nineteenth-century German philosopher and classical philologist.

notes

There are old notes from Exploration 1 and Exploration 7, although they are partially covered and cannot be fully read. It seems as though something interrupted Walter as he was typing his notes…because it ends during the middle of a word.

zft

The newest note appears to have been typed with the same typewriter that the ZFT manuscript was typed with.  The image below is from the ZFT manuscript…
