I think of all the episodes, I have watched the Pilot the most. So there wasn’t as many things to post about it as I thought there would be. Here are some things that I did notice about 101 – “Pilot”.
.
.
What did we miss?
.
- I think the biggest thing that I noticed in the Pilot was the odd blinking lamp above John and Olivia’s head while they looked in the dumpster. Then we see it again, after the explosion, as Olivia lays on the ground. The reason I think it might be important is that there seems to be a pattern in the blinking. Is it perhaps Morse Code? Can anyone confirm this? Here is the video clip…

Are Massive Dynamic and ZFT friends or foes? This should be an easy question to answer…FRIENDS…William Bell is the founder of Massive Dynamic and he funds ZFT. What more do you need, right? Wrong. There are some things that don’t seem to add up for me.
.
#1 – The manifesto. OK, so William Bell wrote the original and then ZFT ripped out the pages on ethics to make the manuscript suit their needs. This would lean more towards ZFT being some sort of rogue group. A faction that has strayed from the original goal perhaps for money or power, who knows.
.
#2 – Harris seemed to be working for Massive Dynamic. He was very upset when he found out about the investigation into MD. And when Jones turned himself in to the FBI, Harris was very hostile towards him. Harris obviously knew Jones, there are pictures of him all over he wall of the warehouse where Harris was running his tests. This also seems to be confirmed by the scratched out photo of Jones. You don’t scratch out the face of a colleague who has died or gone missing.
Jones, Jones and more Jones.

In Walter’s lab notes for the “Pilot” episode, there was a diagram, that I presumed to be a rough sketch of the lab. It looks like it could be the lab with the layout of all the equipment, and Walter’s comments pushed me to that faulty assumption.
“It gives me so much joy to turn the lights on and off at my own whim — and to resume the explorations I began so long ago, in this very laboratory. The ratio of floor dimensions is the key. How can I be expected to make true progress without understanding the properties of my space?”

About 32 minutes into the episode, we see Olivia drive up to the hospital in her car. Note the Red Cross vehicles on the right hand side and the ambulance about to pass them on the road.
.
About 37 minutes later, Olivia goes to the hospital to check on John…
.
It’s the same shot, just a few moments later.

When Olivia is talking to Broyles about getting Walter released, Broyles stands up. You can see three clocks on the wall behind him. They read 22:16, 1:16, and 4:16.
.
115 seconds later, Broyles sits down, and we see the clocks again. They read 22:26, 1:36, and 4:36.
.
I could understand if they had to cut for a moment or two then start re-shooting, that might explain how ten or twenty minutes passed, but shouldn’t they all read the same? Either :26 or :36.

Whose arm is that?
At the end of Olivia’s dream sequence, we see arms reach in to the tank to pull Olivia out…note the watch.
.
Here’s my problem…As the arms reach in to pull her out, she wakes up. Then she dreams about Steig, the skeleton, Steig again, and the skeleton again. Then Peter and Walter open the tank and Peter reaches in. At this point she still has her eyes closed, and this is the watch that Peter is wearing…
.
It’s clearly not the same watch. I suppose that Olivia could have just dreamed that someone was pulling her out of the tank, but then, who was she dreaming about? I didn’t notice anyone wearing a watch like that.
